Apparently it was an electrical fire in the basement between our building and the comedy club next door. It really smelled noxious, but here is a little video I shot from the street....Fascinating to watch people here. Some girl insisted she had to walk on the other side of the sidewalk...it is full of hoses and firemen and security people and she is ARGUING with the cop who wants her to just cross the street... hilarious. i love NYC....18 January 2009

i wish i had the courage to film the FDNY at work....I thought that would be a nice thing to show everyone, but it just seemed so WRONG at the time.....
